June 6, 2014, Halifax, Nova Scotia – Media are invited to preview the new floor layout at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market on Friday, June 6, 2014. The new layout will come into effect starting Saturday, June 7, 2014.

In 2013, the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market engaged in a series of vendor and customer engagement sessions. Overwhelmingly, customers said they wanted additional primary producers at the Market. The new floor plan allows for additional primary producers. It also creates wider aisles which will improve the flow of traffic. The majority of artisans and prepared food vendors are moving to the Mezzanine Level, which will position the upper level as a destination within the Market.

Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market staff will be providing free tours on Saturday to walk customers through the changes. The first tour will start at 9:00 a.m.

The Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market has been in the community since 1750 and has served as a popular gathering place and a great shopping destination for many of Nova Scotia’s best local products. The purpose of the new layout is to ensure the market will remain vibrant and sustainable for years to come.
