December 1, 2015, Halifax, NS – Local producers and artisans in Halifax now have one more retail option. The Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market has officially launched ‘The Shelf’ at the Seaport Market which features Nova Scotia food products, crafts, and Nova Scotia wines. To mark the official launch and inclusion of wine at ‘The Shelf’, six of Nova Scotia’s premier wineries were on hand to uncork their product and pair it with local goods found at the Seaport Market.

“Through ‘The Shelf,’ vendor goods are sold at the Seaport Market even when those vendors are not here which helps them grow their business. At the same time, our customers see a larger selection of product during the week,” said Julie Chaisson, Executive Director, Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market. “This initiative also creates an opportunity for small businesses in Nova Scotia who are not able to attend the Market because of geography to have a presence here.”

‘The Shelf’ at the Seaport Market is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please visit the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market website find out which vendors are available at the Seaport Market each day and to find out what’s on ‘The Shelf’ visit www.halifaxfarmersmarket.com/the-shelf/.
